What industries do you specialise in?

We serve customers across more than 20 industries both nationally and internationally, with our products being used in a diverse range of applications. Our largest industry sectors include medical electronics, defence and military, utilities, and scientific instrumentation. We were a finalist for Manufacturer of the Year at the Australian Defence Industry Awards in both 2020 and 2021. Whether you’re developing a Class III medical device, a rugged defence system, or an innovative IoT product, our team has the expertise and quality certifications to support your requirements. We work with everyone from startups bringing their first electronic product to market through to established OEMs managing complex, multi-year production programs.

What certifications and quality standards do you hold?

Quality is central to everything we do. Our Melbourne facility is certified to ISO 9001:2015, and we are working towards ISO 13485 certification for medical device manufacturing. Our offshore manufacturing partners hold ISO 9001, ISO 13485, and IATF 16949 (automotive) certifications. All printed circuit boards we supply come from UL-approved facilities and comply with IPC-A-600 (Class 2 or 3). Our PCB assemblies are manufactured to IPC-A-610 standards (Class 2 or 3), and every one of our operators is trained and certified to IPC Class 3 – the highest level of workmanship for high-reliability electronics. What are the benefits of choosing an Australian electronics manufacturer?

There are numerous benefits of dealing with an Australian manufacturer versus an offshore based supplier. Some of these are; being in the same time zone, ability to visit the factory throughout the various stages of production, often favourable payment terms, dealing with staff in the same culture, avoiding extra logistics and cost, and quick resolution of issues. Besides this, we have longstanding partnerships with overseas manufacturers and can offer solutions that cater to various requirements and scenarios. If you prefer for your boards to be manufactured overseas, talk to our sales team as by ordering from Precision, many of the above advantages still apply.

Can you assist with product design and development?

We can indeed assist with all of your product development requirements and collaborate with various design houses.

Do you offer prototyping services?

We offer fast turn around prototyping locally in our facilities in Mitcham (VIC), assuming the components are in stock at suppliers, we can often get prototypes to you within 2-4 weeks depending on the complexity of the products.

What is your minimum order quantity (MOQ)?

We keep our minimum order quantities as flexible as possible to support customers at every stage. For bare printed circuit boards (PCBs), we work with a minimum of 2 panels, which is the standard minimum across our network of PCB fabrication suppliers. For PCB assembly, there is no fixed minimum – we can assemble quantities as low as a single board, making us an ideal partner for prototyping and new product development. For cable assemblies, box builds, and other services, minimum quantities depend on the specific product requirements, so please get in touch and we’ll work with you to find the right solution.

Do you support low-volume prototyping for new product development?

Yes, we provide rapid PCB Prototyping in our Mitcham (VIC) facility, with typical lead times of 2-4 weeks depending on component availability.

Can Precision ET manage offshore manufacturing for high-volume orders?

Absolutely. We leverage a certified offshore network (ISO 13485/IATF 16949) to provide cost-optimized volume production while maintaining Australian-level quality oversight.

Do you offer prototyping and support for new product development?

Absolutely. Supporting customers from the earliest stages of product development is one of our core strengths. We offer rapid PCB prototyping from our Melbourne facility, and we collaborate closely with product designers, engineers, and design houses throughout the development process. During prototyping, our team provides detailed Design for Manufacturability (DFM) feedback to help you optimise your product for quality, cost, and production efficiency before committing to volume manufacturing. We also offer great flexibility with late-stage design changes and small batch sizes, which is particularly valuable for startups and SMEs bringing a new electronic product to market for the first time. Our goal is to be a genuine partner in your product’s success – from first prototype to full-scale production. Read more about how we support startups →

How do I request a quote, and what do you need from me?

Getting a quote from Precision ET is straightforward. Simply visit our Request a Quote page or email us at contact@precisionet.com. To provide an accurate quote for PCB assembly or any custom electronics manufacturing project, we typically need your Gerber files (or PCB design files), a bill of materials (BOM) in Excel or CSV format, assembly drawings, and details on your required quantities and timeline. If you’re at an early stage and don’t have final documentation yet, that’s perfectly fine — our team is happy to work with you on what you have and guide you through the process. We aim to respond to all enquiries within 24 hours.

What are your typical lead times for prototyping and production?

For prototyping, we offer rapid turnaround PCB assembly from our Mitcham, Melbourne facility. Assuming components are available from suppliers, we can typically deliver prototypes within 2–4 weeks depending on the complexity of your product. For production runs, lead times vary based on order volume, component lead times, and whether you choose local or offshore manufacturing. We work proactively with our customers to manage component procurement timelines and will always communicate clearly if any factors affect your delivery schedule. If you have an urgent requirement, please speak with our sales team – we understand that time-to-market can make or break a product launch.

Can you manage both local and offshore manufacturing?

Yes. We offer the flexibility of both local Australian manufacturing and offshore production through our established international network. Our Melbourne facility handles prototyping, low-to-medium volume production, and projects that require close collaboration and fast turnaround. For higher-volume orders or cost-sensitive production, we can manage offshore manufacturing through our certified partners who hold ISO 9001, ISO 13485, and IATF 16949 certifications. Importantly, whether your product is manufactured locally or offshore, Precision ET remains your single point of contact. You get the benefits of working with an Australian electronics manufacturer – same time zone, clear communication, local accountability – while accessing globally competitive pricing and capacity. Our Hong Kong office provides additional on-the-ground quality oversight for offshore production.

How do you protect my intellectual property and product designs?

We understand that your product designs represent significant investment and competitive advantage, and we take intellectual property protection seriously. We are happy to sign non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) before reviewing any design files or project documentation. All customer designs and specifications are treated as strictly confidential and are only shared with team members and manufacturing partners directly involved in your project. As a 100% Australian owned and operated company, you also benefit from the strong legal protections available under Australian law. Many of our customers in defence, medical, and other sensitive industries rely on us to handle their proprietary designs with the utmost care, and we have a long track record of maintaining that trust.

Do you offer after-sales support, repairs, and stock holding?

Our commitment to your product doesn’t end at delivery. Precision Electronic Technologies offers comprehensive after-sales support, including warranty repairs, rework on field returns, and ongoing product maintenance. We can also hold stock of finished products or replacement parts in our Melbourne facility and ship directly to your end customers on your behalf. This is particularly valuable for customers who need to maintain consistent product availability without managing their own warehousing and logistics. If your product needs a design revision or component substitution during its production life, we’ll work with you to manage those changes efficiently. Think of us as an extension of your team — before, during, and well after production. Contact us to discuss your requirements →
