PCB assembly (PCBA) is the process of soldering electronic components—such as resistors, integrated circuits, and capacitors—onto a fabricated printed circuit board. Unlike PCB manufacturing, which focuses on the board itself, PCB assembly involves populating the board to create a fully functional electronic circuit ready for use.
We deliver high-reliability Printed Circuit Board Assembly (PCBA) for customers who need more than just an assembly-only provider.
We specialise in prototype, high-mix, and low-to-medium volume PCBA locally and high-volume overseas, working closely with customers to ensure designs are manufacturable, repeatable, and aligned to real-world production requirements. From early engineering and DFM through to sustained production, our teams take a hands-on, collaborative approach to every build.
By combining disciplined quality systems, flexible assembly capability, and strong engineering engagement, Precision helps customers reduce risk, avoid rework, and bring products to market with confidence.
At Precision, we provide high-precision assembly utilizing the two primary industry methods, often combining both for complex, “mixed-technology” projects:
Surface Mount Technology (SMT): This modern assembly method involves mounting components directly onto the surface of the PCB. SMT is ideal for high-density designs, smaller footprints, and automated high-speed production.
Through-Hole Technology (THT): THT involves inserting component leads into drilled holes on the PCB and soldering them on the opposite side. This provides a stronger mechanical bond, making it the preferred choice for components subject to high stress, heat, or power requirements.
Mixed-Technology Assembly: Most advanced electronics require a hybrid approach, utilizing SMT for miniaturization and THT for robust connectors or power components on the same board.
What we can build:
Mixed-technology assembly (SMT, Through-Hole, and hybrid)
SMT component placement down to 0201
BGA “pitch” of 0.4mm
Maximum assembly size: 500 mm × 400 mm
Placement accuracy:
±50 μm for chip-type components
±30 μm for QFP and similar packages
Double-sided reflow soldering
Single-sided wave soldering
Selective soldering
Flexible PCB assembly down to 0.1 mm thickness
Thick PCBs up to 40 layers but design dependent
Conformal coating by machine or manually
Potting and encapsulation
Precision is structured to support customers who value speed, flexibility, and engineering involvement, not just throughput.
• Rapid prototype and engineering builds
• Low-volume production: 1–20 assemblies
• Mid-volume production: 20–250 assemblies
• Higher-volume programs supported locally or via managed offshore partners where appropriate
PCBA lead times are influenced by:
• Component quantity and mix
• Single- vs double-sided assembly
• Component availability and sourcing strategy
Certifications & Compliance
Customers choose Precision because we are technically grounded, flexible, and genuinely invested in their success. Our PCBA services are ideally suited to customers requiring prototype, NPI, high-mix, and low-to-medium volume production, and even large volume, where engineering engagement, flexibility, and quality are critical.
We are a strong fit for organisations developing new or evolving products, managing frequent design changes, or seeking a manufacturing partner who provides practical DFM input and hands-on support, rather than a volume-only assembly model.

A true partnership mindset – we don’t just build to print; we collaborate to improve manufacturability and outcomes.
We support one-off prototypes, engineering builds, low and mid-volume requirements and scalable high-volume production. Our processes adapt to the project without compromising quality, lead time or communication.
Our Design for Manufacturability (DFM) approach is manufacturing-focused, ensuring designs can be built efficiently and repeatedly.
We commonly help customers prevent:
BOM, Gerber, and placement data mismatches
Incorrect footprints, rotations, or polarity
Stencil-related solder defects
Clearance and access issues affecting assembly quality
Where required, we collaborate with customers and trusted third-party partners to support test strategy development and NPI activities.
Quality and delivery performance are central to how Precision operates. Our PCBA builds are governed by ISO-aligned processes, IPC-trained personnel, and controlled documentation to ensure assemblies are produced consistently and to specification. Delivery commitments are set realistically and managed through disciplined planning, clear communication, and proactive issue resolution. By combining strong process control with close coordination across engineering, production, and supply chain, Precision provides customers with reliable build quality and dependable delivery performance, even in high-mix and fast-changing environments.
Precision takes a disciplined and risk-aware approach to supply chain management, recognising its critical impact on quality, cost, and delivery. We source components through approved and authorised suppliers, maintain full traceability, and work closely with customers to manage availability, alternates, and lead-time risk. Our local assembly capability is supported by a global supply-chain network, enabling us to balance responsiveness with scalability. Where higher volumes are required, Precision can manage offshore production programs on the customer’s behalf, retaining full responsibility for supplier coordination, quality oversight, and delivery performance — always with customer approval.
Our PCB assemblies are used across a wide range of sectors including:
Defence
Medical
Industrial
Communications & RF
Automotive
IoT & Wearables
Energy & Power Electronics
Mining & Harsh Environment Applications
Consumer Electronics
The same disciplined quality, documentation, and engineering approach is applied regardless of industry or application.
Our component assembly processes are designed to deliver consistent quality across a wide range of product types and build complexities. We support mixed-technology assemblies, combining SMT, through-hole, and hand-assembly processes as required. Automated placement and controlled reflow soldering are complemented by selective wave soldering and skilled manual operations for complex or low-volume builds. Throughout assembly, process controls and in-process inspections are applied to ensure correct component placement, solder joint integrity, and repeatable outcomes, even in high-mix and evolving production environments.
Inspection and testing are applied based on product risk and customer requirements. Some of inspection capabilities include:
Solder Paste Inspection (SPI)

We need a BOM with manufacturer part numbers and quantities, PCB data (Gerbers or native files), Pick & Place data, assembly drawings, testing requirements, and any special process instructions.
We have a well-established supply chain for sourcing bare PCBs and components for your next project. Besides this we can assist with the sourcing of enclosures, metal cases, cable assemblies & harnesses etc.
We support all build models, including full turnkey, partial turnkey, and fully customer-supplied components. Where components are supplied by the customer, established protocols must be followed to ensure traceability, quality control, and smooth integration into the assembly process
All customer data is reviewed, and feedback is provided where issues are identified.
We do support reworking and repairs as we have specialist operators with the necessary skills to do so.
We advise customers on suitable alternatives, subject to customer approval.
We offer electronics manufacturing capabilities both locally in Australia and offshore and can assist with a wide variety of requirements. We cater for quick turn-around prototypes as well as large volume production and can handle 0201 components and fine pitch technology. Other services we offer are testing, conformal coating, through hole soldering, conformal coating, potting/encapsulation, X-ray testing
Lead times vary based on board complexity, quantity, and component availability, but Precision is recognised for its responsiveness and consistently short turnaround times.
All our operators are trained to IPC A-610 class 3 which is the most rigorous standard when it comes to electronic assembly standards. Our local system is accredited with ISO 9001, and we have ISO 13485 and ISO/TS 16496 in place at our offshore facilities.
